Please book online

(see below)

We are a small but busy independent country pub, retaining our front bar tables and fireside for drinkers wherever possible. This means that we can only take limited bookings in our Dining Rooms.

For Private Dining and larger events please email us at team@bellsapperton.co.uk

Prefer to chat? Do call us on 01285 760298, preferably not during peak service hours!

IMPORTANT BOOKING CONDITIONS:

CREDIT CARD DETAILS

Due to the unfortunate increase in ‘no shows’ in the past few years, we now ask all guests to please provide credit/debit card details to secure your table booking. There is no deposit (except for large parties). Instead, just a small (£10pp) charge will be made in the event of a 'no show' or reduction in guest numbers if we are not given 24 hrs notice. Thank you for understanding.

TIMINGS AND 'NO SHOW' CHARGES

  • Bookings are usually restricted to a maximum of 2 hours on the table, unless you ask us specifically, to avoid families and groups of people waiting. PLEASE let us know AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE if your guest numbers change or if you might be running late. If we haven't heard from you and you are over 15 minutes late for your table we may have to give it away and we are not able to always man the phones during service times.

  • For all bookings (since so many hospitality businesses have suffered from 'no shows' in the last few of years) we now require credit card details to secure your table. Details are held securely in Resdiary on Stripe. This is NOT a deposit, we just have a £10 per person no-show policy. If you can’t make it or your numbers change, no problem, just amend on Resdiary or email us if we can't answer the phone, with at least 24 hours notice please, otherwise we will have to charge £10 per person no show charge.

  • In addition to 'no shows', late changes in guest numbers can have a massive impact on our business and industry. Also, another family will probably be denied the chance of a table, as we really do turn away a lot of people nowadays. We are a small and independent business, so hopefully you will understand.

  • Your online booking will be for the exact number of people selected from the dropdown menu. If you require more or less seats for people/children/dogs/cats then you must let us know at least 24 hours in advance.

THE BAR

We have a lovely pub bar area. Please do arrive early and meet here for a drink and natter before your meal. Browse the 'Wine Wall' if you fancy a bottle of vino and take your time reading the menu.

Regrettably, we don't take bookings for diners in the front bar area, as we really want to be a proper pub!

DOGS - PAWS FOR THOUGHT

  • We love well behaved dogs and owners, in all areas of the pub but at the Duty Manager's discretion, so please make sure to make a note on your booking if you are bringing a dog

  • Owners must be responsible and considerate to other guests

  • Canine chums must be clean and kept on a tight leash

  • No paws on furniture

  • No whining or barking please

  • Naughty pooches might be asked to vacate, but polite pooches will be rewarded with treats!

 Thank you for understanding.

CHILDREN

  • Children must be supervised at all times. Sorry, but they really are your children and not ours!

  • Busy pubs and restaurants can be hazardous with waiting staff carrying hot plates and there are usually other peoples' dogs around, so please try to keep your children at the table and bring your own entertainment for them. We do have some books but we are by no means a play area

  • Please let us know in advance if you need high chairs

  • Please let us know in advance how many children will be in your party, especially if needing our Children's Menu

2024 COVID UPDATE:

We gained a pretty good reputation for helping keep our guests and staff team ‘Covid free’ over the last few very tricky years. We are very aware that Covid hasn’t disappeared. However, since the relaxing of national restrictions, we are all very happy to be back to normal. But, if any of you are still cautious about venturing out into public spaces or you may have vulnerable friends and family with you, our way of doing things is as follows:

  • The pub doors are regularly opened, ventilating most areas

  • Hand sanitiser is available throughout the pub and on request

  • If you would like to wear face coverings then please do so, but we no longer ask our staff team to wear masks whilst serving you. Please let us know in your booking notes and in advance of your booking, as we will be very happy to accommodate guest Covid related concerns if we possibly can do so.
